Majlis Completes 50 years in AP Legislature

The All India Majlis e Ittihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) which has currently seven MLAs in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and two MLCs in the Council, has completed 50 years of legislative presence. It was in February 1962 that Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh from Patthergatti in the old city of Hyderabad. He had defeated Masoomah Begum of Congress. He was 26 then. From then on, the Majlis increased its strength to five and finally seven now. In the aftermath of Babri Masjid demolition, its MLA Amanullah Khan came out of the Majlis and floated Majlis Bachao Tehrik and was even elected to the Assembly. Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi who later came to be known as Salar e Millat was elected to the Lok Sabha four times from the Old City constituency. The mantle of leadership passed on to his two sons, Akbaruddin Owaisi and Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi after the senior Owaisi retired from politics a few years prior to his death. Asaduddin Owaisi became the President of the party in October 2008 after his father’s death. His brother Akbaruddin Owaisi leads the legislature party in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Thai agri-business giant to set up halal meat farms
Faisalabad
CP Group, an agri-business giant of Thailand which has investments in 14 countries, has planned to invest and set up, state-of-the-art animal feed, hatchery and halal meat farms in Faisalabad. A delegation of the company visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). They also examined four sites of the university for establishing livestock farms there. Khun Notthakrit Sivarsi, who was part of the Thai delegation, sought collaboration with the university in research, manpower and other areas for making the project a success.
