"Discover Yourself"

3- Day Workshop
“Discover Yourself”

INTENTION OF THE WORKSHOP

“Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (13:11)
http://www.youtube.com/user/UmmHProductions

In the first day of the workshop your anger disappears and you enter into a state of peace and tranquility. You feel free and light and your view of life, people around you and the world transforms.

The next day you get rid off the burden of the past and the constrains the past imposes on your view of life. You get access to live in the present and create a new future. You have the power, freedom and self-expression to take any challenge that life throws at you and life is no longer a burden. Your view of life alters. You create a new you, surrendering to the will of Allah and choosing to be His representative. You purify your heart and truly get connected with Almighty Allah.

Third day you witness a whole new world around you by demolitioning (fana) your ego. You see life as simple with Truth prevailing and Falsehood perishing. You experience, love, joy, peace, happiness, contentment and bliss, a gift Allah has given you to experience and share with others.

Unless there is individual transformation there will be no Universal Transformation. Now we need a revolution, not for changing others, but to change ourselves

Peace inside Us, around Us

Muscat: Life as an expatriate has its own challenges. Severed from the family and near and dear ones, expatriate workers and professionals and even those who have families, suffer from isolation from their cultural moorings and a socio-political ambience that offer little solace. So, when Indian expatriates heard about the ‘Discover Yourself’, they came in hordes to secure their participation. Over 200 men and women could finally attend the workshop held on January 23, 24 and 25 at the Institute of Islamic Studies, behind Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque at Ghalah. Oman is a unique country. It is the only Arab country which established its colonies at Gwadar (now in Pakistan) and Zanjibar, part of Tanzania. Omanis have had several sailors and navigators of international repute. Ibne Majid who served in the fleet of Portuguese invader Vasco da Gama, was an Omani. Fabled sailor Sindbad too was a resident of city of Sohar. Several Omanis were also part of the workshop. Here are excerpts from some of the participants:

Zohra: I have controlled my anger and have also stopped arguments and proving myself correct always. Alhamdulillah my son who has attended the workshop has also changed completely. May Allah bless you for the great efforts. My husband is surprised at the change. I stopped complaining. My family is happy and contented. Alhamdulillah

Alia: I attended your seminar in Muscat last weekend.  It was truly an eye-opener. I feel much happier, peaceful. I now have the ability to let go of years of anger and resentments that I had. I feel I can finally leave my past to the past and move on.

Shina: Before the workshop, I could not control my anger, was not patient, and was always judging and comparing. When I walked out of the door after the 2nd day of the workshop, I could see another me that I have created. This programme came at the right time for me. I needed it. Thank you very much for the workshop. For me it was wonderful.

Shaheen: I hope everything is fine. We are fine here. You left Muscat, but personally I feel you are still here. Every moment I remember your kindness and generosity you shared with us. The outcome is Peace inside us and around us, Alhamdulillah. I am discovering what I never discovered before. My students, my family and everyone find me a different person now.

Anjum: It was a holistic learning process. Surrendering to the will of Allah, acceptance, inculcating values, honouring one’s word, being true to oneself forgiveness and all these made me to ponder over. It has really touched my soul and has made a lot of difference to me. The whole approach of the workshop was very effective.

Mazhar: This workshop has been an eye opener and a mind opener. The topics covered were so fundamental and relevant for life and living. For attracting young modern people particularly youth, such workshops using modern tool and techniques for dawah would be highly beneficial. Unlike the conventional dawah work which mostly attracts old and less educated ones. I already feel upbeat and optimistic.

Zainab: I am a meditator, and a trainer in Vipasana meditation. This three day workshop is really mind blowing for people to start the journey within. All the three days you made us move step by step to start our spiritual journey. Heartfelt thanks and jazak allahu khairan.

Samad: First, I thought life was only about studies and youth. But now, I realize life has got more that just that. I have learnt how much a person’s life is influenced by his emotions. I have realized my faults and have decided to turn over a new leaf. I have decided to become a better and more helpful person from this day.

Najat Al-Yarubi: I absolutely loved the workshop. Like Mr. Khan said in the beginning, there was not anything he said was new, but it was the way he put it all together and brought it down to our context. The pace was great, the examples and exercises were wonderful and the video clippings ware excellent. The day was long but the time flew. Mashahallah we enjoyed ourselves.

Mubeen: It is very very excellent, really it changed my life. It is beneficial and useful. I cannot express how much I feel happy. May Allah reward you, Jazakallah khairan.

Sabiha: I came to know of my real personality. And the options I can choose to be a good human being and a good Muslim. I feel my self new, light and inside I am full of tears to wash all my sins, dirt and bad. Thank you.

Sayed: We were a very happy married couple and we both attended the workshop for three days. We have vowed, that inshah allah now we have got a new way of life, we will share it with others and spread the positive awareness by doing small workshops. It is such a light that we will try to make a difference to humanity. Such workshops should be done very often and even for a week as three days is not enough for such a beautiful course.

Dalila al-Abbadi: First I am proud to be Muslim. Honestly before the workshop I used to blame myself that I am a useless person and blame my family for not supporting me. Honestly I found my peace and I have learnt the technique of having peace. I have learnt that as a human being, it is normal to make mistakes but we should realize it and change and not repeat it. It gave me the courage to learn more and more and share with others what we have and not blame at the end. If we can make a difference go ahead, otherwise be silent.

Zaid Al Rab: Well I feel change. I am seeing the world from other view. I really love it and now I am a very peaceful person. Now whatever I see I love it.

Nizar: Since I started to attend the workshop, I felt the people around me are all equal and I should behave as human being instead of animal. I should be a forgiving person and keep my word always.

Raziya: It was very useful. This kind of Islamic workshop I am attending for the first time. I have attended two personality development workshops. But as a Muslim we are incorporating Islam in our daily life, I think this workshop for teenagers will be very useful, they need guidance. I feel peace within me. Think in a more positive way. After the workshop I feel more peaceful and livelier. My husband who attended also felt the same about me.

No Place for Anger and Ego

Bangalore: ‘Discover Yourself’ was organised in Ghousia Polytechnic for women, between February 1 and 3. Nearly 100 students participated in the workshop. The Ghousia Polytechnic situated on Hosur road conducts diploma courses in electronic and communication, apparel design and fashion technology and commercial practice and computer science and engineering. Here are excerpts from the feedback provided by the students:

Shaista: I feel excellent, top of the world as my behaviour is totally changed. I see my surrounding too with love and happiness. There is no place for anger and ego anymore. God has gifted us life which is precious. I discovered myself.

Manjula: Before coming to this workshop I was wondering what this workshop, it is waste of time. After attending the workshop my mind was free, I have control over myself and my behaviour. My thinking and my life is changed. Thank you sir and my teachers.

Hema: Before this workshop I was so sad, I was thinking why we came to this world. What is life, only eating, sleeping, working, crying and being happy? We work hard and achieve things but at last what will happen to us is we will die. After the workshop I am feeling so happy. I came to know what life is and how we should live our life. I have learnt so many things. Whatever you told I was suffering with that problem. God sent you because of me. I was dead before three days. February 1st is my birthday what I mean is that I am a new born girl now. It should be made compulsory to the students to attend the workshop. It is amazing.

Shruti: The important thing I want to share, before the workshop is my anger, due to my anger I lost my happiness, joy and all my relationships. After attending the workshop many things in me changed. My relationships are back and my happiness, joy and everything. I went home and asked my parents sorry by hugging them; my heart was full of love, happiness and enjoyment. I felt like the whole world was celebrating my birthday with me. All my life I will be very much thankful to this workshop and my college.

Ganga: First I like to thank you; I used to get angry for silly things, now I am OK with everyone. I was always lazy in my life, after attending this workshop I am the first girl to get up early and I am the first girl to enter the college. I am feeling so happy. I have gained confidence and I got to know the values of life. Please continue this workshop not only in our college but spread these golden words all over the world. The first day I felt it was boring and the second day was awesome, it is really very wonderful and useful.

Ayesha: Well before 3 days of starting the workshop, I was not clear of my ambitions and also not clear of my future. But after 3 days of attending I could find myself changed, everyone around me were shocked. It completely changed my life. When I walked out of the seminar hall the world appeared so much fresh. I became more cheerful and bubbly than before. I just hope the seminar had been for not only three days but for a month. I wish everyone attend this workshop. I thank the whole team for organizing this workshop. I love Allah, my parents, my friends, all the people and at last I started loving myself.

Aruna: I enjoyed the workshop. This workshop will not be there for three days but it will be in my soul forever. I felt myself gaining more and more positive energy, confidence, and have reduced my anger. I have forgiven everyone and I am feeling pleasant. I cannot say thank you and finish in such a small word. I can tell 'I Discovered Myself and have gained peace'.

Sadia: My life was empty of happiness and full of tensions. After this workshop I am feeling free and happy. I like to thank God and sir for holding this workshop for spreading happiness and peace. At the last day of the workshop I am sad because if we had for more days we could have learnt more. It is a very great opportunity to attend this workshop in which people can get everything and anything in life. . It totally changed my life; I am in a new world of truth. Thank you very very much from the bottom of my heart.

Satya: Before the workshop I was shy, afraid, little bad girl and angry. I was always alone. After the workshop I am feeling happy, got more confident. I want this workshop daily. I use to always blame God now I won’t blame God. I thank my parents and teachers and special thanks to you sir for opening my eyes. You have to do this workshop in all the schools, colleges and to all poor people.

Lakshmi: This workshop gave me an opportunity to know myself and what others think of me. To be frank, when I heard that we should pay Rs 50/- for the workshop I felt very bad and I thought it is waste of money and also waste of time. But now when I came on 2nd day I felt very happy and I am confident to take decisions in my life. From today I am a new person, for sure I will honour my word. The workshop was wonderful, fantastic and enjoyable. Please conduct this workshop in all the schools and colleges.

Pranjali: : This workshop has made many changes in me. Now I have experienced what life is and I saw the reality of life. I used to say bad things to God that Why have you made me this way. After attending the workshop I learnt good things and started thinking positive. Now I have got everything in my life what I want and I have started experiencing new things. Before I was not studying saying all the subjects are tough, now I realized, will be in the present and work hard. I thank God that He had given me a wonderful life to live. Please conduct this workshop everywhere, so that everybody can experience the life.

Bindu:  Cannot evaluate, cannot give value, and cannot pay, ‘it is so valuable’. I learnt so much about life. I love this workshop. Before this workshop my life was different now it’s lovely. I have changed myself.
