This is with reference to the news ‘Synchronized Azan in Cairo’. Broadcasting of Azan simultaneously to so many mosques at once is a topic which needs to be debated by the Ulemas and competititve Islamic Scholars. One needs to understand the position of the Muezzan also. As the Muezzan’s not just give a Azan call at regular interval but is a Islamic Heritage.

Whom should we emulate?
Abdul Azeez
Bangalore
|
While the other communities in India continue to progress, Muslims remained backward. The community has to be blamed for the setbacks. We have to emulate the life of those who have achieved something in life. People who are sincere, honest, dedicated and committed even individuals and NGO’s should be taken into consideration. The Muslim community as a whole failed to produce leaders whom we can emulate. The workshop such as ‘Discover Yourself’ has come as a boon. We should try to get benefit out of such workshops.

Far from Truth
Mohammed Danish
Delhi
|
The editorial ‘Darkness underneath the lamp is how true that the Muslim leaders and organizations are far away from the reality. No one wants to work in slums or Jhugi Jhopdis. Our leaders also work for fame and fancy. We are deviating our valuable resources from the committed cause to work for the community. We should realize that merely show off will not help in a long run. We must work at the grass root level with a consistent approach.

Muslim and Sachar Committee
Zafar Ansari

There has been a growing debate among the intellectual circles for the last few months on the observations made by the Justice Sachar Committee. In India Muslims as a community exists as illiterate, poor and backward lot. The recommendations have highlighted that fact, that the Muslim community is worst than that of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.
The news reports have even highlighted that the Prime Minister is very much keen and also the HRD minister is also keen to convert some of these observations into recommendations.
The Muslim leadership at Delhi both political and religious should initiate all necessary measures to see that these observations gain the status of recommendations. This may eventually lead towards working for a better socio-economic condition of Muslims at large.

Today we live in a highly sophisticated world which is highly informative. This is happening due to the onslaught of the electronic media. While Christians own dedicated frequencies for missionery activities. Muslims continue to remain backward. While the so called Islamic channels exist but the out put is hardly any beneficial to the Muslim community. These channels fall short of propagating Islam. Under these circumstances, there is a urgent need for Muslims in particular to get caught up with the race in electronic media.

Leaderless community
Ayesha Sultana
Madras
|
Muslims in India have become a leaderless community. Even the so called religious leaders deviate the community from development and progress. Every religious leader is involved in preaching different Maslaks. We are fighting in the name of Maslaks without looking into its negative impact. Religious scholars should narrow down the differences and come together and work for the upliftment of the Ummah.
