Addicted to War (Indian Edition)
Why the U.S. can’t kick Militarism.
By Nigar Ataulla
|
An illustrated expose by Joel Andreas. Published by: Earthcare Books, 10, Middleton Street, Kolkata - 700 071. Email:earthcarebooks@vsnl.com Ph.: 22296551 Price: Rs. 120/-
“Addicted to War” takes on the most active powerful and destruction military force in the world. It reveals why the U.S. has been involved in more wars in recent years than any other country. Hard-hitting and carefully documented, this book cites 145 references, including published sources of information. An “un-put-down able” expose which you might read in two hours, but won’t forget it in a hurry.
Joel Andreas has been a political activist ever since working to promote racial equality and organize workers inside the United States and to oppose U.S. aggression abroad. After working as an automobile assembly line worker, a printer, and an engineering drafter, he completed a doctoral degree in sociology at the University of California in Los Angeles studying the aftermath of the 1949 Chinese revolution. He now teaches at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. “Addicted to War” is Joel’s third illustrated expose.
Joel wrote and illustrated the first edition of “Addicted to war” following the first U.S. war against Iraq in 1992. The people of this country had been shielded from the truth about that and previous wars waged by the United States.
Ten years later, events compelled him to update the book. Under the second Bush administration, the chronic U.S. addiction to war reached a new level of intensity. The September 11, 2001 attacks provided an opportunity for George W. Bush to declare a “war on Terrorism”, which in practice has turned out to be an endless binge of war making. The second edition of “Addicted to War” was published in early 2002, following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.
While “Addicted to War” was originally written for American readers, people in India will also have reason to read it. This book also explains how America’s addiction to war harms the common people in the United States, even while it provides great wealth for others.

Edited by: Arjimand Hussain Talib and Shoba Ramachandran Edition: 2007 Published by: Books for Change, 139, Richmond Road, Bangalore - 560 025 Ph.: 080-25580346 Email:marketing@booksforchange.net
“Rehabilitating Noora is a case of a mother having lost her only son to the torture of some notorious militants. The intensity of her loss has made her flee the native village, Pahlipors in Keller area of Southern Pulwana district, along with her husband and two daughters to live at her parents place”………… This is just one story. Sixteen such pathetic stories are packed in “Izhaar, Kashmir’s stories of Resilience”. These are stories of families in Kashmir who have been victims of encounters with security forces or encounters between warring factions of militants. In a conflict, not all victims fall to bullets. Some succumb to the pressure of constant mental agony caused by watching the sufferings of other victims around. This book covers the livelihood programme of Action Aid’s three year old Psycho-social Rehabilitation project in Kashmir. So far, 770 families have been supported with an income generation unit in Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar and Ganderbal district during 2006-07. In total 1511 families have been supported with an income generation unit since 2003. This programme is implemented in Kashmir in partnership with Jammu Kashmir Yateem Trust and people’s Development Trust and Himalayan Mission for Advocacy, Youth Awareness and Training Kashmir.
These stories are based on the impressions of a journey undertaken by a Srinagar based journalist, Zubair Dar, with these families.

Western Media and Its Impact on Society
By Nigar Ataulla
|
By Nazrul Hafiz Nadwi Rendered into English by: Nazir Ahmad Zargar Published by: Academy of Islamic Research & Publications, Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. Ph.:0522-2741539 Fax: 0522-2740806 Email: infor@airpindia.com Price: Rs. 150
The contemporary world media is Jewish controlled whose antagonistic approach towards Islam is known to everybody. The Jewish policy with respect to media is enunciated in Protocol XII wherein the elders of this race clearly maintain that in order to become the world’s richest people, they need to have their full control over the press. Their designs have not let other non-Jewish people be in control of any such newspaper through which the latter could express their opinion effectively. The protocol clearly confesses that for achieving their ‘illegitimate’ interests, the Jews can make ‘heroes’ out of nothing.
The book “Western Media and Its Impact on Society” by Maulana Nazrul Hafiz Nadwi tells about the same apostatic character of the Media. The author has authentically proved that today’s media is fully dominated by the Jews and the west has substantiated his point through living instances.
Maulana Nadwi is lecturer in Nadwatul Ulema, Lucknow in the department of Arabic Literature. Nothing in history has threatened Muslims like the western media which is ever present and ubiquitous, never resting and never allowing respite. The powerful media offensive is compounded for Muslims and they appear not to have the capacity to defend themselves.
It is in this context that the first ever research based book, “Western Madia and Its Impact on Society” has been authored by Maulana Nazrul Hafeez Nadwi.
The book has been translated into English by Nazir Ahmad Zargar, a budding scholar of Kashmir. The author presents a graphic picture of world media captured by the Jews in a convincing manner with an introduction by Dr. Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi, reader and former director, Shah-i-Hamdan Institute of Islamic Studies, University of Kashmir, Srinagar. The book begins with a post-mortem of the September 11, episode and is then followed by detailed chapters on the Indian media, media aggression on the Arab world, Islamic media and suggests the responsibilities of the Islamic media.
The book is expected to generate a debate among the conscious and concerned sections of the Muslim world about the present position of media and its challenges to Islam and Muslims and will lead them to make concerted efforts to compensate for the lapses on their part in this regard.
