I am a regular reader of the Islamic Voice for so many years and the Muslim community is indeed proud of your achievements. The Sangh gang after Gujarat, think that Karnataka is ripe for their game in the south. We can see their sustained attempt for the last 10 years through the Eidgah Maidan to Baba Budangiri. Do we really ever think how we can prevent this calamity befalling on us as a community? We have all along looked on the so-called leaders of ours when there is none! Itís high time that we as a community come up with ways and means to check this Sangh menace. I request that we should start a forum, where people will give their suggestions to fight the Sangh. I hope we do have that capability to fight their propaganda with truth. I believe we can find interesting and creative ideas coming from our community.
Zulfiquar Ali Khan,
The answer given by Dr. Zakir Naik to the question whether a wife can refuse to have sex with her husband when she has no desire is, to say the least, barbaric. All the references given by him are irrelevant to the issue under discussion. A husband and a wife have to understand each other and have sex at the time when both are in the mood. Compelling a wife to come to bed with him whenever a husband wants is an act which amounts to rape which has no sanction in Islam. It should also be understood that according to Islam, sex is mainly for the purpose of pro-creation. It is surprising that a doctor has given such an absurd reply. One cannot agree with him.
Mashallah, you are doing excellent work with this publication. May Allah help you in your efforts to spread Islamic knowledge to all those who seek it.
I used to read Islamic Voice while I was in a Muslim Trust boarding school in Vandalur, Madras. I found it very informative and useful. But after I graduated from the school in 1990, I lost touch with your publication. Recently, a friend of mine (based in Bangalore) had reminded me about this journal and I checked your website and found it very impressive. I am currently based in New Jersey, USA.
Last month, in Islamic Voice (March 2003), Moorthy Muthaswamy seems to have written the letter while sitting on a sofa without knowing the real situation. I dare him to pay a visit to Kashmir and see what the "poor Hindus" have done to the Kashmiri Muslims. Our women were raped, our property was burnt and such horrible means were adopted that history has no such examples. Let me remind you that Kashmiri Hindus were evacuated en-masse by Jagmohan(who is a Hindutwa preacher). This is a historical fact. Besides, what does Moorthy say about the government-backed Hindu terrorism in Gujarat. Why has he not mentioned even one word about this?
We live in a strange world. America has inflicted so much damage on Iraq and the world is not aware of the hidden agenda of George Bush. I call all human rights activists and friends of humanity to take a dig in the annals of history to realise the wrong inflicted upon the humanity by United States. They will find that Iraq has done nothing in comparison to what America has done to jeopardise world peace and the right to exist as a free nation. It is America which is the greatest danger to world peace and not Iraq.
The U.S.A.-Iraq war has led us to believe that the United Nations has not lived up to its name. It will be quite apt to call it "Subordinate Organisation of United States of America". It is an open secret that America has attacked more than 21 countries from Vietnam to Nicaragua after the U.N. helped America in various ways.
The Chief UN Weapons Inspector Hans Blix is on record that Iraq does not possess mass destruction weapons. Even after this fair report, aggression by USA on Iraq does not stand to reason. The UN has lamentably failed in implementing its charter under the influence of USA. Bush should be shown his right place if the UN wants to retain its "usefulness".
