I.V. Pen Friends
Thanks for the Support
Through your pen friends column I cultivated friendship with one Parvaiz Shaikh of Mumbai in 1990. Though we changed places such as Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Riyadh and Dubai, our friendship has stayed in place. I don’t know why such a useful column has been discontinued.

Your Islamic Voice issue of November’99 headlining, ‘More Muslims Elected This Time’ signifies a major change, which should be helpful for Muslims. But it can yield good results only, if there is proper and the active participation of the Muslim community in the national affairs. There is a huge backlog of social workers, pending for them and unless they rise to the occasion, mere more numbers of the elected representatives, shall not give the desired results.
It is high time that Muslims make use of this situation and get their grievances redressed through their representatives in the assemblies and in the parliament.

I find your journal very interesting. Its a wonderful job and Allah is surely to reward the one who are behind this. I had been a regular reader of your journal since many years but unfortunately lost links as I came abroad. But very happy to access it through Internet. And I would happy if you would print more of Question and Answers session and regular columns like “About Women in Islam” and I personally appreciate the article on “Hijab”. I really appreciate the authors Sarcasm and the effort to bring out the true condition of happenings. How hard it is to accept it but truthful it is. And when we are going to change the concept and understand the real meaning of “Hijab”. Back home people have misunderstood the meaning of “Hijab”. They feel just putting pallu (covering head is Hijab but there is a lot to be understood from it). A women is the most beautiful when inside the walls of her house and this is a concept to be understood with broad mind. And not to be taken as a matter of suppression and fight for rights and Hijab comprises of every thing. The word “Aura” itself is a connotation of Hijab and its the most important factor of a women. I hope the young generation of today think over it and take it as happily and not ridicule such articles as a insult InshAllah.
