Oh Prof, You are Confused!

The interview of Prof. Mumtaz Ali Khan (Islamic Voice April 2004) stating his reasons for joining the BJP are unconvincing. In fact, there seems to be a mad rush towards the BJP and many Muslims don’t want to be left out. Like Prof. Khan, they also feel that the BJP has changed its outlook. I really wonder if the BJP has changed from within? Khan says it is time to forgive. Yes Prof. Khan it is nice to forgive, but if you were involved in a Gujarat- like situation and your wife and your daughters were raped, your father and brothers were burnt alive, would you have been so forgiving then? No Prof. Saab, the BJP has not changed inwardly. The BJP is notorious for its doublespeak and many others like you are like flies outwitted by the spider.

Prof. Saab, remember that to Indianise is one thing, but what the BJP has in mind is not to Indianise, but Hinduise the minorities in India. If they get a majority in the Parliament, they will show their true colours. This was aptly described by Swami Agnivesh and a number of Hindu, Sikh and Christian religious leaders at the National College grounds a couple of months ago at a conference organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami. All of them warned about the dangers of the BJP. There are many non-Muslims who wish the Muslims well and are doing so much for the Muslims, like Teesta Seteelvad who has been a crusader against communalism. But there are many Muslims who are letting down their community by joining hands with hypocrites like the BJP. Are they opportunists? Time will tell. Allah should save us from the enemy within.

All for Personal Promotion

With reference to the interview of Prof. Mumtaz Ali Khan (Islamic Voice, April 2004), it is highly deplorable that the so-called Muslim intelligentsia of India are all out to prove the better image of BJP. Here I must clearly call upon all the so-called Muslim intellectuals of the nation that ‘Those Who Forget History are Condemned to Relive It’. The future of the community would continue to remain in doldrums if people like Prof. Mumtaz surrender to the ruling class like BJP for their personal promotion only. Though, thanks to Almighty Allah, I have not lost any of my relatives in Gujarat carnage nor ever lost my property during riots, but my pain and agony for them always remains high and would continue until justice is seen. I strongly believe that 5 per cent of Muslim elite and its leadership are creating confusion among the Muslim community. Now a movement can spring only from the poor, oppressed masses of the Muslim community to work productively towards ensuring welfare of the entire Ummah in India.

Guidebook on monuments

I have written a guidebook on monuments of Agra, Sikandra and Fatehpur Sikri with an aim to cover every single monument. Hundreds of less known monuments such as Dhakdhi ka mahal, ladli Begum's tomb, Baagh e Khan Alam, Humayun's mosque, Salabat Khan's tomb, Todarmall's Baradari are scattered over these places and are crumbling or vanishing. I am documenting all of them. I request the readers of Islamic Voice to provide information which they have through any sources. All sources would be acknowledged in the publication. Photographs and sketches are also welcome. Contact me on the address given below.

Leave it to the Experts

In one issue of Islamic Voice, you published an article about reciting Allah’s names as a cure for remedies. It is agreed in the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet (Pbuh) that there is cure in reciting the Quran and certain duas. This reciting of Allah’s name a thousand times seems to be the practice of the Sufis. On matters of the fiqh, shariah and such issues, leave it to those who are more knowledgeable and concentrate on what you do best - report news of relevance to Muslims.

A Request

This has reference to the Job Hunt page of Islamic Voice (April 2004) on “ Home, Sweet Home.”

My request is a different one. I am a retired individual and a regular subscriber of Islamic Voice. All my children-two sons and a daughter are married and settled elsewhere and of no use to us. Since I have become old and sick there is nobody apart from my wife to take care of me. So I want to adopt an orphan boy (whose both parents are no more) of age 5 to 7. He would get a family and we would take complete care of him as our own son. When he grows up Inshallah he can marry an orphan girl and then be able to take care of me and my wife. I would also, Inshallah give them a share in my house property along with my three children. I request the readers to let me know if they know any such orphan boy whom I can adopt. You can visit and enquire about us too. A line in reply to this address will be appreciated.
