Journey to Germany

Remember Zaffar Shawl? The dynamic crusader from Bangalore against dowry, who created a Movement of sorts by intervening in a number of dowry related cases, will soon be travelling to Germany. While this time, it is not to promote his Kashmiri handicrafts, but on a noble mission as a Crystal Healer. Zafar believes that Allah has endowed nature with power and stones and crystals have a natural power of healing many ailments. According to him, stones have healing properties and as Muslims we should recognise this power and make use of it. Be it diamonds, emeralds, sapphire or ruby, they all can be used to heal any ailment, he says. As an Egyptian crystal healer, he does not charge any money for healing. You can meet Zaffar before he boards his flight at : Himalayan Dowry-An Anti-Dowry Store, No 72, M. G. Road, Bangalore-1, Ph:98450 34419 or 25597366. Email: himalayandowry@yahoo.com

Hindu, Rajput, Danish Kaneria Plays for Pakistan

By Faisal Sharief for rediff.com

Danish Kaneria is a special talent with a unique identity. A leg-spinner of immense promise, he is a Hindu who is proud to be a Pakistani. His Test debut in 2000 against England was followed by constant exclusions from the team and comebacks to it. He lives on Chaudhary Khaliquzzaman Road in Frere Town in the posh Clifton area of Karachi. But, then, it is not often that a non-Muslim plays for Pakistan. He is a Khatri Rajput and only the second Hindu to represent Pakistan in Test cricket. His maternal uncle, Anil Dalpat, was the first. "I don't ever think about my identity. I am a Pakistani and my religion cannot change that. My religion teaches me to first respect my motherland and then my religion," affirms Kaneria. "When I took my first Test wicket, 'main sajde mein gaya Pakistan ma ke' For Kaneria, country comes before religion; before faith. But India does hold a special place in his heart. "Like Muslims look at Makkah, I look towards India as my sacred land. I hope I can visit that place someday,” he says.
