Voices of Freedom From the Shores of Sri Lanka

The Discover Yourself Workshop was conducted by A.W. Sadathullah Khan on October 9, 10 and 11, 2008 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was organized by First Global Knowledge Centre. Here are some of the responses from the participants.

Thowfeek: Mashallah, learnt a lot, about myself, how to live a life that can make a difference in my life, my family and that of others.

Maulana Bashir: First I want to thank Allah  for sending a person from India to change our lives, specially my life.  On the first day I asked the person sitting next to me whether the speaker is going to talk on the basis of Quran and Sunnah, he said, he himself does not know. But when I started to listen to him I got the best explanations and examples for some of the Quranic verses and Hadith which I could not get in my 12 years of experience in Madrasa. My wife enquired whether the speaker is giving lectures on Hajj and Umrah and I said no. I asked her why she was asking me that question. She replied that I am expe-riencing from the past two days as if you have returned from Makkah and Madina. I thank Allah and Khan sahib. I feel the programme is not sufficient for 3 days, but it should be held for one month.

Shiran: My wife has always been telling me that I am selfish, self-centered and arrogant. Attending the workshop made me realize, how true she was and this made me to change. I want to change for the better, for my wife and for my children. This workshop opened me up to be caring person.  I believe that what I have learnt in the 3-day workshop is going to be a continuous process in my life. May Allah bless Sadath saheb and his family.

Rizeya: Before the workshop I had issues with anger and felt agitated and took things personally. I was working on my anger and Mashallah was able to control a lot of it now after the workshop. I am able to have peace within. During the workshop I had an open discussion with my parents and realised their point of view, which has helped me a lot. I forgave people for the mistakes done to me, which I was carrying for the past 15 years.

Rinaz: Well this workshop was really useful for me, as it was on the day after I failed in my job interview. Two other candidates were selected who were not even close to my qualifications or experience, this was very disturbing and I was very depressed. This workshop which my father advised me to attend was meant for my ‘situation’ and helped me understand how to stop worrying and start living. Not to lose hope and confidence. My ego was attacked as they chose two unqualified persons over me, and I was regretting and blaming myself. This workshop also made me realize a million other things, which I was not aware of. I have decided also to return some of my loans back to the owners, Inshallah for sure within next few days. I have forgiven everyone who has disappointed me. I thank you very much for this workshop and to Allah for giving you this knowledge and giving me this opportunity to attend this. I would have missed it, if my father did not tell me, you should have advertised more and drawn a larger crowd.

Arifa: I was very angry and aggressive. Alhamdulillah, now my mind is free. I like this workshop very much. May Allah forgive my sins and yours too. I want this workshop to be held here again and again specially for the ladies.

Shabnam:  My family saw a change in me. Specially, my children. I usually get angry very fast, Alhamdulillah that did not happen. I am more tolerant towards my parents and my grand parents who are living with us. I forgave and felt peace within me. Alhamdulillah, now I can control my anger. It was a good programme, it was an eye opener.

Naeem: I understood who I am. I realised my mistakes and weaknesses. I am able to control my nafs. This workshop gave me lot of knowledge, Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless you with good health.

Razia: I understood the meaning of life. I could control my anger and gave up pride. I had not spoken to my friend for the last two years. After the second day of the workshop I rang up and asked for forgiveness. She was so happy and I am felling better now  and relieved.

Personality Development through Self-intorspection
(Based on Islamic Principles)
The workshop aims to achieve self empowerment
through the transformation of one-self.
“Now we need a revolution, not for changing others, but to change ourselves”

In the first day of the workshop your anger disappears and you enter into a state of peace and tranquility. You feel free and light and your view of life, people around you and the world transforms.

The next day you get rid off the burden of the past and the constrains the past imposes on your view of life. You get access to live in the present and create a new future. You have the power, freedom and self-expression to take any challenge that life throws at you and life is no longer a burden. Your view of life alters. You create a new you, surrendering to the will of Allah and choosing to be His representative. You purify your heart and truly get connected with Almighty Allah.

Third day you witness a whole new world around you by demolitioning (fana) your ego. You see life as simple with Truth prevailing and Falsehood perishing. You experience, love, joy, peace, happiness, contentment and bliss, a gift Allah has given you to experience and share with others.

Unless there is individual transformation there will be no Universal Transformation. Now we need a revolution, not for changing others,
but to change ourselves
