In a moment of immense pride for the community, five Muslim candidates have successfully cleared the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) examination conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Out of 114 candidates selected statewide, these five individuals have made their mark through determination and excellence.

Inspiring Journeys from Across Maharashtra
1. Shaikh Shireen Lala, from Ahmednagar, now residing in Pune, attributes her success to her husband, a Chartered Accountant, and to her mentor, teacher and advocate Ganesh Sirsath, whose guidance was instrumental.
2. Shumaila Sadaf, a product of Urdu-medium education from Nanded, is the daughter of a teacher and a businessman. Her achievement is a testament to hard work and perseverance.
3. Uzair Ahmed Shaikh, from Akola, is a practicing advocate handling cases from Murtizapur Trial Court to the Bombay High Court. Holding an LLM in Constitutional Law, he also works actively with RTI. His father, N. N. Shaikh, is a senior advocate with four decades of experience, and his mother, Dr. Rizwana, served as a headmistress.
4. Tanvi Rehman, hailing from Kadamwadi village in Kolhapur district, cleared the exam in her very first attempt. She dedicated her achievement to her late father, fulfilling his long-cherished dream.
5. Mulani Ashfaq Shahjahan, from Mohal in Solapur, is already serving as an Assistant Director in the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), Hyderabad. A previous UPSC selection, his success in JMFC adds another feather to his cap.
Challenging Selection Process
The JMFC recruitment notification was released in 2022. The three-stage selection process included:
• Preliminary Examination: Over 12,000 candidates appeared.
• Mains Examination: 1,150 qualified.
• Interview Round: 350 candidates shortlisted, interviews held on March 29, 2025.
Following this comprehensive evaluation, 114 candidates have been appointed as Civil Judges (Junior Division) & Judicial Magistrates (First Class), who will now undergo training before taking charge.
A New Chapter for Representation
This achievement marks a significant step forward in enhancing Muslim representation in the judiciary. It also serves as an inspiration for young legal minds across the country to pursue careers in law and justice.
