TEHRAN (MNA): Iran has expressed readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in the joint production of military equipment, signaling a potential boost in defense ties between the two neighboring nations.

During a meeting in Islamabad with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, emphasized the importance of cooperation in defense manufacturing.

Strengthening Border Security and Counter-Terrorism
General Bagheri highlighted the significance of intelligence-sharing and coordinated efforts in combating terrorist groups operating along the shared border. Commending Pakistan’s resolve against the Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, he proposed joint cross-border patrols and military exercises to enhance security and stability.

Joint Naval Drills and Regional Cooperation
Iran also expressed interest in conducting joint naval drills with Pakistan, aiming to strengthen maritime security. General Bagheri underlined the importance of collaboration among key Islamic nations, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, to advance regional interests.

Focus on Afghanistan
The Iranian general stressed the need for collective efforts to restore peace and stability in Afghanistan, a key concern for both Iran and Pakistan.

Diplomatic Engagement
In addition to his meeting with General Munir, Major General Bagheri met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, discussing mutual interests and areas of cooperation.

General Bagheri’s visit, accompanied by a military delegation, was made at the official invitation of Pakistan’s Army Chief, further cementing ties between the two countries.
