KARACHI : Pakistan successfully launched its first homegrown observation satellite, the PRSC-EO1, on Friday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northern China, as announced by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).

The satellite, Electro-Optical PRSC-EO1, marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space exploration efforts. It is designed to enhance the nation’s ability to:

• Improve disaster response strategies.
• Support urban planning initiatives.
• Advance agricultural development.

The launch was broadcast live at SUPARCO’s complex in Karachi, where a crowd gathered to witness this historic event.

SUPARCO stated that the satellite’s cutting-edge technology will enable Pakistan to gather detailed earth observation data, supporting sustainable development and informed decision-making across various sectors.
