The Kolkata based Samfas Technologies has developed a software for management of Urdu medium schools. Named emadrasa software, it enables Urdu medium schools to keep track of entire ongoing activity within the school.
The software has been developed by Mahbub Abbas Sheikh, a Kolkata based IITian who took an M. Tech from IIT, Kharagpur. Shamsun Nabi who has a background in Statistics, provided the Urdu input for the software. The West Bengal Minorities Financial Development Corporation proposes to launch the software for the 200 and odd Government-run and aided Urdu medium schools in West Bengal.
The emadrasa provides a range of wares to manage admission of students, enabling creation of a profile for each student with his or her photograph, recording of grades and ranks obtained, academic record and attendance. Similarly, it tracks the teachers’ record right from their resume and recruitment to remuneration, leave, recertification and upgradation of qualification and promotions or transfers. It also provides access to syllabus and day-wise lessons.
Shamsun Nabi who was in Bangalore recently told Islamic Voice, the software operates at three layers. In the first layer, a parent can access their child’s progress, for example, his or her attendance on a particular day or date and the lessons taught and grades obtained in an exam. The second layer enables the teachers to access their as well as students’ data. In the third layer, the administration will have a master database in which they can access all the records pertaining to students, teachers, non-teaching staff, midday meals distribution, stationery purchased, accounts, salaries, leave register etc.
Nabi says, the software encompasses all the necessary tools that may be possibly needed for management from standard one till 12th standard. The software was first created for English medium school””which is under use in three schools in Bengaluru””and was then converted into Urdu.
According to Nabi, the online cloud model of the software is cost effective as it is available at the rate of 25 paise per day per student for any school. The second option is to go for installation of the software by the company for each individual buyer. The software can operate with any Urdu font such as Nastaleekh or Naskh.
