Bengaluru: The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) has released a Rs. 10 crore cheque towards the payment of the CET admission fee to the students of the minority communities. The cheque was presented by Mr. Qamarul Islam, Ministry for Minorities Development and Municipal Administration to Karnataka Examination Authority on June 10. The amount is an advance payment of CET admission fee for those candidates who will be selected for admission into courses like MBBS, BE, BDS, B.Arch etc this year. Around 4,000 students will receive the loan scholarship under Karnataka Government’s Arivu Scheme. According to Mr. Islam, 8,159 students from the Muslim, Christian, Jain and Sikh communities received the loan scholarships in the 2014-15 academic session. Under the new arrangement, the CET admission fee gets automatically paid from the advance amount once the admission form comes attached with the 2B category certificate and the candidates can proceed to relevant colleges without paying any admission fee to the KEA.
