Two New Courses in Jamia Millia
Jamia Millia Islamia will introduce Vocational courses in Solar Energy and Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with an intake capacity of 50 in each course under the Scheme of Community Colleges from the current academic session 2015-16. The main objective of these courses is to generate employment opportunities for youth. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved the proposals of the university and has sanctioned Rs.90 lakhs for the Vocational course in Solar Energy and Rs. 61.56 lakhs for Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for a period of two years. The grant-in-aid will be used to set up labs., workshops, classrooms, procurement of teaching and learning material, machinery, equipment besides other recurring expenses.
Jagjivan Ram Chair in Jamia
New Delhi: The Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, has proposed to establish a Babu Jagjivan Ram Chair in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The Chair seeks to propagate the ideology and philosophy of Babu Jagjivan Ram, his vision to create a casteless classless society and to work towards achieving social justice for Dalits, the downtrodden and the weaker sections of the society. The Chair will be fully financed by the Foundation.
Waqf Grant for HBS Hospital for Free Dialysis
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Board of Waqfs has issued a grant of Rs. 2 lakh for the Hazrat Bismillah Shah Hospital’s Dialysis Centre for providing free dialysis to people suffering from renal failure. Simultaneously, the Karnataka Waqf Women’s Foundation has released grant of a similar amount to the Hospital for free dialysis to women patients. The Waqf Board Chairman Dr. Mohamed Yousuff who visited the hospital during June, promised the grant after being impressed with the services provided by the Hospital.
Haram Mosque Goes Wi-fi
Makkah: The pilgrims inside the Grand Haram Mosque can now access Internet through Wi-fi facilities being provided by the Haram Establishment. The pilgrims will now be able to receive messages circulated by the Masjid e Haram Establishment. They will also be able to book iftar meals online to be supplied inside the Haram area and register themselves for the visit to the factory making Kiswah (the covering of the Kaabah) and exhibition related to Haram Mosque and other holy sites around the city. The registration can be done in six languages, Arabic, French, English, Urdu, Turkish and Persian. This was announced by Mr. Bandar Al-Khuzaim, Director of Information Technology of the Haram Establishment. The wi-fi and other facilities were launched in collaboration with the Ummul Qurra University of Makkah.
Haj Bhavan at Kalburgi: Foundation stone was laid for Haj Bhavan here in the Eidgah Maidan on Hagarga Gaon, in the outskirts of the city on July 5 by Mr. Qamarul Islam, Minister for Municipal Administration and Awqaf. The Bhavan will be constructed by the Kalburgi Urban Development Authority. Mr. Islam has contributed Rs one crore from the MLA Fund for the purpose. Md Asghar Chulbul, chairman of the Authority was also present.
