Deoband: Maulana Salim Qasimi, Muhtamim of the Darul Uloom (Wqf) Deoband passed away on April 14 after ailing for some time. He was 92. He was Vice-President of the Muslim Personal Law Board. He received his madrasa education at Daul Uloom Deoband and later joined as a teacher and taught Hadith for several years. After the Darul Uloom split into two and his father Qari Tayyab founded the Darul Uloom (Waqf) Deoband in 1987, he joined the new madrasa. He was the great-grandson of Maulana Qasim Nanautvi, the founder of the Darul Uloom Deoband. He is survived by four sons and two daughters. He was buried in the presence of thousands of mourners in the Moulissery compound, the traditional graveyard of the Qasimi famly.
