Chamarajanagar: As part of its “Masjid Darshan” initiative, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, invited people of all faiths to visit the Madina Masjid in Chamarajanagar on September 16. The event aimed to dispel misconceptions about Islam and mosques, fostering a better understanding and harmony within society.

Muhammad Kunni, the state secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka, emphasized the need to address misunderstandings about Islam and its places of worship. He highlighted that creating an open and welcoming atmosphere can bridge gaps between communities. The program coincided with the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whose teachings, Kunni noted, brought peace and justice to Arabia.

Kunni explained that the Masjid Darshan initiative aims to educate people about mosques, which are often misunderstood. He stressed that places of worship should be open to all, allowing individuals to learn and appreciate different religious practices, promoting peace.

Shri Sarpabhoshana Swamy of Channabasaveshwar Mutt echoed this sentiment, stating that visiting mosques can enhance peace and spirituality. He noted that such programs help break down barriers between different faiths.

Other speakers included Fr. Antonappa of St. Paul Church and Maulana Jafar Hussain, Chief Qazi of Chamarajanagar, who also emphasized interfaith harmony.

The event was attended by local MLAs Puttarangshetty, A.R. Krishnamurthy, and H.M. Ganesh Prasad, representing Chamarajanagar, Kollegal, and Gundalpet, respectively. Naeem Ul Haq, President of Madina Masjid, led the program, which saw participation from many dignitaries, including Dr. Basava Rajendra and Dr. Shweta.
