President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Indonesia Islamic Financial Center (IIFC) in Jakarta, a new hub aimed at bolstering the country’s Shariah economy and positioning Indonesia as a global leader in the halal industry. Home to Indonesia’s largest Islamic bank, Bank Syariah Indonesia, the center will support sectors like halal tourism, food, and Muslim fashion. Ranked third in the 2023 Global Islamic Economy Indicator, Indonesia aims to leverage its 236 million Muslim population to become a global halal hub and strengthen its Shariah banking and economy.
