Manama, Bahrain: A major international conference aimed at enhancing Islamic unity and solidarity convened in Bahrain, bringing together over 400 prominent scholars, intellectuals, and religious leaders from across the globe.

The Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference (IIDC), co-organized by Al-Azhar, Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and the Muslim Council of Elders, seeks to unify perspectives on critical issues affecting the Muslim world.

Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Calls for Unity
Addressing the opening session, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, emphasized the urgent need for Arab-Islamic solidarity free from discord.

“The time has come for a sincere, fraternal unity among Arabs and Muslims, free from divisions, if we truly seek the well-being of our nations and the future of our Ummah,” he stated.

He highlighted Palestine as the guiding compass of the Islamic world, stressing that unity is crucial in countering threats to Palestinian sovereignty.

Strong Stance Against Forced Displacement
El-Tayeb condemned recent proposals by former US President Donald Trump to relocate Palestinians and transform Gaza into a tourist hub, calling it an open call for ethnic cleansing.

“We have now reached a point where some openly call for the displacement of an ancient people, uprooting them from their homeland to establish a tourist resort on the remains of the dead and the bodies of martyrs,” he declared.

The Arab and Islamic world has collectively rejected this plan, reaffirming unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.

A Call for Action and Solidarity
The conference emphasized the need for collective action to address the challenges facing Muslim nations, particularly in Palestine and Gaza. With nearly 48,300 Palestinians killed in recent Israeli attacks, speakers stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic and economic support.

As discussions continue, the IIDC aims to lay the groundwork for stronger cooperation among Muslim nations, reinforcing the vision of an united and resilient Ummah.
