Close combat: refers to hand-to-hand combat or fighting. It involves the use of weapons such as pistols, bayonets, rifles, and hand grenades.

(Note: This is general pattern of ranking. Every nation has however its own ranking system with variations. Field Marshal is not a permanent rank. It is conferred owing to exceptional performance.
