Melbourne: Australia’s Muslim community inaugurated their largest conference in Melbourne last fortnight, hoping to correct misconceptions about their faith to the wider society. Organised by the Islamic Research and Educational Academy (IREA), the three-day conference titled as the “Australian Islamic Peace Conference”, aimed at bridging gaps between Muslims and followers of other faiths. Muslims in Australia constitute about 1.7 percent of its 20-million population.
