Muhammad Ranks Second Among Popular Baby Names in England and Wales

London: According to the Office of National Statistics, Muhammad secured the second spot as the most popular name for baby boys in England and Wales for the year 2022. The Daily Mail highlighted the surge in popularity of this Arabic name, noting its rise from the 20th position in 2012.

Variations of the name, including Mohammed and Mohammad, also made it to the list of the top 100 most favored baby boys’ names for 2022, securing the 27th and 67th positions, respectively. Alongside Muhammad, other Arabic names gaining recognition included Yusuf at 93rd, Musa at 99th, and Ibrahim at 100th.

Among baby girls, Layla claimed the 56th position, followed by Maryam at 75th, and Fatima at 99th, showcasing a diverse range of Arabic names making their mark in England and Wales.
