At the 2024 Baghdad International Book Fair, the Muslim Council of Elders hosted a seminar titled “Intra-Islamic Dialogue and Shared Challenges,” presented by prominent scholars including Sheikh Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Al-Ani and Dr. Jawad Al-Khoei. The seminar, moderated by Dr. Samir Boudinar, Director of the Al-Hokama Center for Peace Research, emphasized the urgent need for unified dialogue among Islamic sects to address global challenges faced by Muslims.
Key speakers stressed that intra-Islamic dialogue is vital for fostering cooperation, combating extremism, and preserving Islamic values. Dr. Al-Ani highlighted the importance of agreeing on clear definitions for productive discussions, while Dr. Al-Khoei underscored the role of dialogue in unifying the Ummah to confront shared challenges. The Muslim Council of Elders also showcased over 220 publications and hosted further discussions on promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation within the Islamic world.
This first-time participation by the Muslim Council of Elders reflects its mission to promote unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
