AMU Holds Development and Social Entrepreneurship Workshop

Mehfil e Nisaa, a new organization of women was inaugurated here on July 7 at a function held at Urdu Hall in the Hameedshah Wakf Complex. While inaugurating the Mehfil, Ms. Maryam Mahmood Ayaz said the organisation would take up literary, social, cultural and educational activities. It would have members from both housewives as well asprofessional women. Urdu writer Farida Rahmatulah read out a paper on female foeticide. Prof. Salma Begum, HoD, Economics at the Maharanis College presented a paper on domestic violence while Prof. Hasanat Mansoor, former principal, CMA Abbaskhan College for Women, Ms. Shantamma of Vimochana, Kolar, Ms. Mahnoor Zamani Begum, Zubeida Begum, Prof. Halima Firdous addressed the audience. Several Muslim women councillors form Greater
Bangalore Municipal Corporation attended the function.
