Vadodara: The Zidni Elama Charitable Trust (ZECT) here disbursed a sum of Rs. 35, 36,000 towards scholarships for 278 students early this year. Of the recipients, 153 are boys and 125 girls. The Trust was set up by Prof. J. S. Bandukwala, retired professor of Chemistry at the M. S. University, Vadodara in 2007. The Trust is taking care of educational expenses of 148 children from 88 families whose heads are being detained under POTA after 2002 Gujarat mayhem. The Trust has so far disbursed Rs. 99 lakhs during the last six years by way of scholarships, a press note said. ZECT can be contacted at: 02652783338
