Bangalore: A study by the Centre for the study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy under the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has found that allocation of funds for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Minorities in the State is abysmally low and there were no guidelines for allocation to these groups.
The Study prepared by Prof. Abdul Aziz and S. Japhet of the Centre found that the allocation for minorities ranged between 0.07% and 0.64% of total expenditure in the last 10 years. Allocation for the OBCs was little higher between 0.53% and 0.75%. They recommended that a deprivation index should be formulated and compared with deprivation index for the whole state.
The findings of the study were released by Chief Minister Mr. Siddramaiah on Feb. 11 at a cabinet meeting.
