Asif Ibrahim, former chief of Intelligence Bureau (retired Dec. 2014) has been appointed the Prime Minister’s ‘Special Envoy on Countering Terrorism and Extremism’. He will liaise with countries in the Middle East, Af-Pak region and Muslim countries of South East Asia. An IPS officer, Ibrahim has vast knowledge and experience of work in the field and is likely to open channels of communication on the issue with the countries afflicted with the menace of terrorism.
