Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has ordered that all 160 Minority Residential Schools should become functional from the next academic session. He said 71 such schools have already started functioning this year and 89 more would be set up in the next academic session. He said these schools would provide education to 55,000 students from minority communities. He said districts such Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal, Hanamkunda, Adilabad, Mahboobnagar, Nalgonda etc should have at least six such schools.
KCR said Telengana was the heartland of Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb (read composite culture) and minorities would be provided all facilities for development. He lauded the participation of Muslims in the Ganesh Festival processions recently. The State Government has set up a committee to look into the proposal to make 12% reservation for Muslims in the State, which was once part of the Nizam’s State of Hyderabad. The new state of Telengana was carved out of former state of Andhra Pradesh.
