Shamli (Uttar Pradesh): In a rare achievement in a region known for its opposition to girls education, daughter of a local vegetable vendor, Nagma Mansuri and a student of Rashtriya Kisan Post Graduate (RK PG) College topped the Chaudhary Charan Singh University to win a Gold Medal.
Ram Naik, Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Chaudhary Charan Singh University “ formerly known as Meerut University, awarded the Gold Medal to Nagma Mansuri at a glittering ceremony for scoring maximum marks in Physics. A student of M.Sc., Nagma Mansuri, is fond of teaching and wants to pursue Ph.D. “I love teaching and want to join a college as professor”, she said. Nagma’s success is a repeat of the achievement of her elder sister Tabassum Mansuri, who had topped the Meerut University back in 2014. Their father had studied till 8th class and their mother never went to school. “Initially, people were criticizing us for sending our daughters to college. But, after the laurel they brought to the town by their astonishing success, they have become a role model for others,” Farzana Mansuri, their mother, said.
