New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates will host the World Expo 2020 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from October 01, 2021, and will go on until March 31, 2022. Briefing the media about the event, Dr. Ahmed Albanna, UAE Ambassador to India, said the Expo’s theme is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” It will attract thousands of entrepreneurs, businessmen, and visitors from all over the world.
The World Expo Expo 2020, the biggest trade fair event, was earlier scheduled to take place on October 20, 2020 – April 10, 2021, but pushed because of the coronavirus outbreak across the world.
Providing details about the event, Ambassador Albanna said that the Dubai Expo would occur between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The leading site of Expo Dubai 2020 will be a 438-hectare area (1083 acres) located between the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, near Dubai’s western border with Abu Dhabi.
He said that the World Expo in Dubai in 2020 will be the first to be held in the Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia region. It will be a grand event, which will witness 60 shows every day, have 191 country pavilions, and have more than 200 restaurants at the venue.
According to the UAE Ambassador, the theme is based on the belief that bringing the world together can catalyze the exchange of new perspectives and inspire action to deliver real-life solutions to real-world challenges.
He said that Expo 2020 seeks to be a platform that will seek ingenious solutions for a better future. The Expo aims to achieve this through its three pillars: Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability, and each theme will have its pavilion.
Ambassador Albanna said that the Expo is expected to attract millions of visitors from across the world. He emphasized that Expo 2020 coincides with the UAE’s 50’s anniversary marking a significant milestone for the UAE.
The briefing was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Dilip Chenoy.
Chenoy said that FICCI is India’s leading industry association, and it has been tasked with helping the government prepare the Indian presence at Expo 2020. He said that India’s massive pavilion in the Expo would showcase India’s strength in innovation and start-ups.
