Braille: System of writing with embossed dots formed by using a Braille cell, a combination of six dots consisting of two vertical columns of three dots each. Each simple Braille character is formed by one or more of these dots and occupies a full cell or space. Some Braille may use eight dots.

Crutches: (Singular is crutch, but mostly used plural). A stick with a piece that fits under the arm, that you lean on for support if you havedifficulty in walking because of a foot or leg injury.

Dumb: Permanently unable to speak. This word is now usually considered offensive. The more usual word is speech impaired.

Dyslexia: A condition in the brain that makes it hard for a person to read, write, and spelling.

Lame: Used for describing someone who is disabled because their leg or foot is damaged. This word is now considered offensive.

Paralympics: An international sports event for people with disabilities that takes places every four years.

Wheelchair: A chair with large wheels that someone who cannot walk uses for moving around. (وھیل چیر)

Quadriplegic: One affected with paralysis of both arms and both legs.

Paraplegic: Complete paralysis of the lower half of the body including both legs, usually caused by damage to the spinal cord.

Autism: A condition or disorder that begins in childhood and that causes problems in forming relationships and in communicating with other people.

Mentally Challenged: A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one more of an individual’s major life activities:” this includes both those individuals with a record of an impairment and thoseregarded as having such an impairment.
