Muslims enjoyed the “golden era” and were loved and admired by the world, once upon a time. Times have changed. There has a been a gradual downslide of Muslims and their development in every aspect of life. It’s time to reflect, to introspect and find answers. Keeping a positive approach, there are several avenues to mitigate the problems and find solutions for the overall advancement of Muslims in all aspects, be it education, intellectual growth, economic status, health issues and many more things.
Travelling all the way from Kentucky, USA, Brother Ibrahim. B. Syed is bringing his intellectual, spiritual and practical treasure of knowledge to share with the people of Bangalore.
Ibrahim B. Syed was born in Bellary, Karnataka. He obtained his B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at the Veerasai va College in Bellary (affiliated with Mysore University). He studied M.Sc. in Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics at the Central College in Bangalore (Affiliated with Mysore University. He obtained a Diploma in Radiological Physics (D.R.P.) from Bombay University while on training at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center in Mumbai. He served as the First Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Officer at the Victoria Hospital for 3 years (for the whole state of Karnataka) before he left to take the position of Chief Physicist at Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He earned a Doctor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland, thus becoming the first Indian ever to obtain such a degree.
Currently he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky, USA since 1979. He is the founder and President of IRFI (Islamic Research Foundation International), Inc. in Louisville, KY. He has authored two books, “Intellectual Achievements of Muslims” and “Qur’anic Inspirations” and published over 400 articles on multifarious topics in Islam which can be read at the website www.irfi.org
He is listed in Who’s who in America, Who’s who in the World, Who’s who in the Frontiers of Science and Engineering, American Men and Women of Science, Who’s who in Religion, Who’s who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Education and People from Bellary. He was awarded a Doctor of Science Degree (Honoris Causa) by the Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University located in Bellary on March 20, 2013.
