Rabat: A Belgian TV channel has praised Morocco’s King Mohammed Institute for the training of imams and female preachers, Morocco World News reported. RTL, an independent Belgian French-language news channel, published a report asking why Belgian imams have not begun studying in the institute. “Why are there no Belgians in this exemplary training center for imams?” the report asked, after corresponding with the head of the Central Office of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ).” The institute, located in Rabat, currently teaches students from seven countries, including France. The Moroccan institute was inaugurated by King Mohammed in March last year, and aims to equip imams with the tools to fight against the radicalization of young Muslims. “There are courses on jurisprudence, on French and Arabic communication, and on how to communicate with people of different faiths,” Ayoub Amraoui, a French student at the institute told the Belgian channel.
