2-Day Seminar Held on Life and Contributions of Eminent Commentator of Quran Dr. Luqman Salafi

Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Muhammad Luqman Al-Salafi, an Islamic scholar of repute, at a 2-day virtual seminar held on August 27-28. Speakers said he was a global personality, and his life was the epitome of constant struggle. He was one of the masters of all-around virtues whose contributions will benefit the country, nation, and humanity.

The Seminar topic was the life and contributions of Dr. Muhammad Luqman, a renowned commentator of the Quran and a par excellence biographer of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). The Seminar concluded with announcing an annual academic award after his name, organized by the Old Boys Association of Jamia Imam IbnTaymiyyah, Madinat-ul-Salam,Chandanbara in Bihar.

Top leaders of religious organizations and Islamic scholars of different schools of thought from India and abroad said Dr. Luqman will always be remembered for his seminal works on the Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). They underlined that scholars and common knowledge seekers could not ignore his works on Islam.Among the notable religious leaders and scholars who addressed the Seminar, were Engineer Syed Sadatullah Husaini, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Navid Hamid, President of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushaurat, Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman Qasmi, President of Shah Waliullah Institute, , Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, President of Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, Maulana Syed Athar Hussain Dhelvi President Anjuman Minhaj Rasool, Maulana Shamshad Rahmani Sahib Naib Emir of Sharia Emirate Bihar, Maulana Syed Zahid Raza Rizvi former Chairman State Hajj Committee Uttarakhand, Professor Kausar Mazhari, Jamia Millia Islamia and others.

On the last day of the Seminar, a resolution was passed on various issues, including terrorism, nation, and humanity. It also announced a special chair on Allama Luqman at the Jamia Imam IbnTaymiyyah.

The Seminar was inaugurated by the president of Jamia, Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Luqman Al-Salafi. He has warmly welcomed the proposal to set up the Allama (Dr) Luqman chair and award after his name.

It is to be noted that the Old Boys Association of Jamia presented the proposal for instituting annual award in the name of Dr. Luqman.

Maulana Asghar Ali presided over the inaugural session, Imam Mehdi Salafi, Ameer, Jamiat-e- Al-hadees.

On the last day, three sessions were held in which Dr. Luqman’s life and contributions were highlighted by the noted scholars from India and the Arab world.

Maulana Riaz Ahmad Salafi chaired the first session. As many as 13 papers on various aspects of the life and services of Dr. Muhammad Luqman Salafi were presented.

In his presidential remarks, Maulana Riaz Ahmad Salafi underlined that Dr. Muhammad Luqman Salafi’s focus was the promotion of Da’wah, who had dedicated his entire life to the cause of the Muslim Ummah. The fourth session was literary and cultural, presided over by renowned poet Maulana Salik Bastavi and directed by renowned poet Jamil Akhtar Shafiq Taymi.

Chairing the valedictory session, Dr. Sohaib Hassan Abdul Ghaffar, Chairman of Jamiat-ul-Quran, London, said that establishing Jamia Imam IbnTaymiyyah was an outstanding achievement, Dr. Luqman. Maulana Shamshad Rahmani, Deputy Ameer of Sharia Emirate of Bihar and Jharkhand, said that Dr. Luqman was a global personality whose life was the epitome of constant struggle.

On this occasion, Maulana Asghar Ali Mehdi released a souvenir that spread over 400 pages. A literary and cultural session was also held, which was presided over by renowned poet Salik Bastavi.
Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Hafiz Abu Talha Tamimi presented the resolutions and recommendations, and the convener of the conference, Dr. Muhammad Shaith Idrees Tamimi, proposed the vote of thanks.
