The moving spirit behind the venture is Mr. Mohammed Farooque, who has so far set up Ashiana Old Age Home (beyond the Bangalore Airport, on Bellary Road); Ashiana Food Bank and Ashiana Scholarships. Farooque told Islamic Voice that the Institute will impart skills among youth in order to enable them earn a decent livelihood. The institute was inaugurated by Mufti Sageer Ahmed Sahib, Ameer-e Shariat, Karnataka.
Farooque said his Ashiana Old Age Home (on a 80 ft. by 80 ft. site) has now 50 inmates and is the only facility of its kind for aged Muslims around Bangalore city.
