New Delhi: The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) has launched the first mobile Urdu app, named eKitaab, which enables readers to download all books by the Council on a cellphone and use it without Internet. The bilingual English-Urdu app provides the text in Nastaleeq font and has compatibility with Android phone, iPhone, iPad and desktop computers. It provides access to a trilingual Urdu-Engish-Hindi dictionary and enables the reader to access to this dictionary at any point. It facilitates enlargement of fonts and day and night reading. According to a press note by Council Director Irtiza Kareem, the Council has also prepared an “E-Library Website-cum Urdu eBook Reader” portal in order to promote Urdu language. This enables readers to access a large number of Urdu books published by the Council. The website is constantly updated and upgraded by hosting newly published book.
