New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) signed a MoU with Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), New Delhi to establish a Herbal Garden on Jamia campus. Under the aegis of the MoU both the institutions would be collaborating for the development of medicinal plants (especially Unani) besides conducing high level research and popularizing medicinal plants among students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI said that the collaboration would offer faculty and students an opportunity to jointly identify medicinal plants that would help them carry out specific research projects in domains of bio-technology, bio-chemistry and alternative medicine.
Prof. Raisur Rahman hoped that the setting up of the Herbal Garden will mark a new beginning for research in Unani Medicine in India. The CCRUM has already opened Unani Medicine OPD in the Ansari Health Centre, JMI.
Prof. Shahid Ashraf, Registrar, JMI and Prof. Raisur Rahman, Director, CCRUM signed the MoU document on behalf of their respective institutions in the presence of the witnesses and invited guests.
