New Delhi: The Drama Club of Jamia Millia Islamia “JOSH” is organizing a Play “Hum Ek Hain” “ A thought provoking play in Hindi written by Shrirang Godbole.
The play has been designed and directed by Dr. Danish Iqbal, Coordinator, P.G. Diploma in Acting, AJK-Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. The plot of the play revolves around children and their rights. The play opens to a school that has children from all religious backgrounds. It has a very strong script which demonstrates how children can think independently of adults and in situations of stress, actually show them the way. So it is adults who learn from the children. The play shows how the simple minds of children can teach the adults on how to deal with social evils that have been sown by society and it is the elders who are still frozen in the past. The play will address issues of unity along with religious diversity and protection of the rights of children. The play is set in the backdrop of riots in the city. The adults panic, but children lead, with their assertion of rights and teach the adults to deal with the situation rather than squabbling amongst themselves on issues that are not important.
