Aconference of Muslim and Christian religious leaders that concluded here last fortnight, denounced the recent release of a video film and cartoons offensive to Prophet Muhammad and drawing of graffiti insulting Prophet Eisa (Jesus Christ) on the walls of
churches. In a final communique, issued at the end of the conference, the participants urged followers of heavenly religions not to be
misled by campaigns aimed at spreading religious and sectarian strife and discord. The conference also underlined the need for promoting harmony among followers of various religions and cultures. The statement called on the clergy and Jewish rabbis to declare a clear and unequivocal position with regard to rejecting any aggression on everything sacred to the followers of the heavenly religions and their moral values. Several prominent Muslim and Christian leaders and scholars attended the conference. They included Palestinian Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs Dr. Mahmoud Habash, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Hussein,
representatives of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III, representative of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, Hanna Eisa, secretary general of the Islamic-Christian Commission, Sheikh Yusuf Adeis, head of the Supreme Shariah Judiciary
Council, and Mohammed Barakeh, Arab member of the Israeli parliament Knesset
