Mumbai: The Women’s Wing of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat organized a one-day National Consultation Workshop on ‘Identification of Women’s Issues and Remedies’ on January 7 at the Ahmed Zakaria Hall of Anjuman Islam High School here. Mrs. Patankar presided over the function, and Uzma Nahid led the discussion. Uzma Nahid said that it is important that Muslim women have a proper platform to present their views on issues pertaining to them, hence this consultation.
Ms. Maria spoke on surrogacy among Muslim women. She said, in a survey in Bombay, she found that 80% of all surrogate mothers were Muslim women. “It bodes ill for these women because surrogacy caries some disabilities along with it”, she said.
