Mysore: Mustafa Unani Pharmacy here was given the Hakeem Ajmal Khan International Award at Dubai last month. The Pharmacy was established by Hakeem Syed Ahmed in 1865 and has seen seven generations of Hakeems successively heading it. Hakeem Syed Ahmed had named it after his son Mustafa who also established the Unani and Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in Mysore. It was later shifted to Bangalore and taken over by the Government. It is being currently headed by Hakeem Syed Jawad whose son Syed Imran is on a modernization drive. He has established a unit in Haines Road in Bangalore. It has also come up with a Unani Spa.
