New Delhi: Maulana Azad Foundation under the aegis of the Central Government has invited applications from girl students among Muslims and other recognized minority communities for courses beginning after 10th standard (or SSLC) for the new academic year. All those who have passed the 10th std from state examination boards, ICSE or CBSE or any other recognized boards can apply online from July 1. The applications can be downloaded from the website www.maef.nic.in and can be submitted till September 30 this year. The applicants should have secured not less than 55 % mark in 10th standard board exam and their family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. one lakh in the preceding year i.e., 2011-2012. They should have secured admission in any course and college recognized by the governments, State or Central. The Foundation website says that it is a one time scholarship and no claim as permanent beneficiary will be entertained. Students once selected for scholarship cannot avail the same again. Students getting a scholarship from any other source would not be eligible for this scholarship, the announcement said. Scholarship will be admissible for expenditure on payment of school or college fee, purchase of textbooks, stationery, equipments required for the course and payment of hostel charges, it added. n
