Waqf Cadre Created in Karnataka

166 new recruits selected through exam, being trained prior to posting

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Waqf Board has added one more feather to its cap by creating a special waqf services cadre. For the first time, the Board conducted its own examination patterned after the Public Service Commission and has selected 166 officers out of those who appeared for the exam and the interviews. The appointment letters were issued by the Board. Of those selected, 37 are girls. According to Mohammed Yousuff, Chairman of the Board, the new recruits would be sent to the Indian Social Institute, Benson Town for training to be conducted between August 25 to September 10.
Of the 166 new appointees, 15 will be Waqf officers, 30 First Division Clerks, 27 Second Division Clerks, 10 Legal Assistants, 6 Kannada Data Entry Officers, 30 Auditors, 20 Supervisors, 8 Data Entry Officers. Eleven others will be taken on a contract basis. The Government has sanctioned another 45 personnel for Group D employees such as drivers, liftman etc who will be recruited by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He informed that all the new appointees belong to Minority communities.
