Bengaluru: Mr. Anwar Shariff, former Chairman of the Jumma Masjid Trust, died on September 7. He was ailing for some time. He was 58. As Chairman of the Trust, he implemented several reforms and carried out development activities in Eidgah Quddoos Sahib and Masjid Qadiriya, in the heart of Bengaluru cantonment area.
Shariff held the post of Chairman for two terms of five years each. He was also vice president of State Janata Dal Secular and headed the Carol group of companies as managing director. He unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections last May from Sarvagnana Nagar constituency in Bengaluru. He advocated unity on the basis of faith and humanity. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. He was laid to rest in the Quddoos Sahib Graveyard the same evening.
