Sakar Khan, folk musician who played kamaicha, a bow and string instrument, died in Jaisalmer on August 10, a day after Eidul Fitr. Khan took the kamaicha to world operas and played with celebrated musicians like Yehudi Menuhin, George Harrison of the Beatles at major festivals in France, Japan, the US, Russia etc. He was conferred with Padma Shree by the Government of India and Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1991.
