New Delhi: The Government of India has introduced the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) for encouragement of studies in pure sciences. KVPY is a scholarship programme. The Department of science and technology, Government of India conducts an aptitude written exam to offer scholarship to talented students. Students who are studying in science/mathematics after 10th standard can apply for this exam. Many students appear in this exam to get a scholarship. Those desirous of applying can log onto http://www.kvpy.org.in/ for guidelines, eligibility criteria, application process, admit card, important dates, answer key, selection process and other details.
Those candidates are having a science and mathematics or science /mathematics / biology stream after 10th can appear in this test. Candidates who are going to appear in this test after 10th should have 80% aggregate marks in science and mathematics in 10thand 1st year candidates must have 60% aggregate marks in 12th science and mathematics. There is a relaxation in percentage of SC/SC/OBC category candidates. Candidates can apply online as well as offline.
Under the programme, a student at B.Sc or M.Sc (or its equivalent) receives a monthly fellowship of Rs. 5,000 and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 20,000. The last date to request application form by post is August 2015 last week. Last date to get the application form at the Indian Institute of Science centre in Bengaluru is August 29, 2015. Closing date for online application is August 29, 2015. Last date for sending the copy of application form is September 2, 2015.
