Thermal power: Electricity is produced by heating water which turns into steam and drives the turbine. Thermal power mainly uses coal to heat water. (حرارتی توانائی)

Renewable Energy: Any energy that comes from sources which are replenished by the Nature is renewable energy. For example, sunlight can be tapped to produce electricity continuously. So it is renewable. But energy derived by burning coal or from petroleum and diesel is non-renewable energy as this comes from fossils which have limited reserves under the earth. It is a clean energy as it does not leave any carbon footprints. (قابل تجدید توانائی)

Solar Power: Sun emits both light and heat. When sunlight is converted into electricity by using photovoltaic cells, it is called Solar Power. (شمسی توانائی)

Photovoltaic Cell: Photovoltaic or PV cells convert solar light into electricity by using semiconducting material. These are embedded into flat panels which are placed in a position facing the sun and absorb solar light. These are called PV cells in short. (فوٹواولٹائی خلیے)

Concentrated Solar Power: This system is based on tapping heat from the solar rays by using parabolic mirror dishes and lenses. The dishes gather solar rays from a large area to reflect them back on large lenses which in turn transfer this heat to steam turbine which produces energy. This called CSP in short. (ارتکازِ شمسی حرارت)

Wind Power: Wind has power. In olden times, the boats would have sails which were opened to drive the ships forward in the direction of wind. Nowadays flow of winds is used to turn the windmills which in turn generate power. It is also a clean energy. (بادی توانائی یا ہوائی توانائی)

Wind Turbine: In electric fans were use electricity to produce wind. But in wind turbine we use the wind to produce electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes electricity. (پون چکی یا چرخاب)

Tidal Energy: Tidal energy is produced by converting the energy of waves (usually in oceans) to electricity. (لہری توانائی)

Biomass Energy: It has been the most widely used form of energy in the history. This includes all plants, wood, bamboo, straw, forest residue and organic matter which store chlorophyll which is a form of solar energy. In the past, people used to burn them to heat water or cook. Since plants and trees could be grown and regrown, biomass is considered renewable energy. Nowadays decaying biomass is used to generate cooking gas. Similarly, some of these can be turned into biofuel too. (حیاتیاتی توانائی)

Hydropower: Falling or running water is used to run the turbine and produce electricity. It is a renewable energy as water gets stored in dams year after year. (پن بجلی)

Transformer: A transformer is an electrical device that transfers energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction. (ٹرانسفارمر یا برقی رو کا آلہ)

Kilowatt: The basic unit of electricity is the Kilowatt hour (kWh). In simple terms, 1 kWh is the amount of energy consumed by an electrical device (e.g. an electric heater, bulb, stove etc) that is rated at 1kW (1000 watts) for 1 hour. A further example is ten 100-watt light bulbs used for 1 hour. (کلو واٹ).

Volt: The volt is a measure of electric potential. Electrical potential is a type of potential energy, and refers to the energy that could be released if electric current is allowed to flow. (اولٹ)
