New Delhi: Senior Urdu columnist Khursheed Alam passed away here on August 5 morning after prolonged illness. He had been admitted in Delhi State Cancer Institute on July 27. He was 54 and leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Khursheed’s journalistic career spanned over three decades. He began his career from Afkar e Milli fortnightly in the 1980s. He simultaneously wrote in Hindi as well as Urdu. For several years he was associated with the Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, Daily Hindustan (of Hindustan Times group) and wrote for Amar Ujala and Veer Arjun. He hailed from Kanpur and arrived in Delhi in the early 1980s. He had a sound grasp of issues impacting the Muslim community. For the last few years, he was media coordinator for Institute of Objective Studies and the All India Milli Council. He was buried in the Batla House graveyard the same evening in the presence of leading lights of nearly all Muslim organizations.
