New Delhi: Dr. Safi Naqvi has been appointed the Secretary of the Central Wakf Council under the Ministry of Minority Welfare. Naqvi is a Marine Geo-chemist and has served as a scientist in several laboratories under the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He was associated with the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa for several years and was Director of the Geological Sciences till recently.
Naqvi studied at Aligarh Muslim University. He was adjudged for the Youth Sedimentologist Award 1996 and Sir C. V. Raman Award in 2009.
