The Gaya Muslim Orphanage at Cherki, 14 kms from Gaya completed a hundred years since its founding by late Enayeth Khan (1885-1970). Khan was born in Clowna village of Gaya and went to Calcutta in 1912. He worked for some time in the famous Grant Hotel and later joined the Calcutta Fire Brigade. He returned to his ancestral village in 1946 upon retirement and served the Muslim Orphanage till he passed away in 1970. The souvenir is edited by Dr. Mahjabeen Nishat Anjum and carries several articles on the history of the institution which is today managed by a committee comprising several noted personalities of Gaya city. n
